PRESS RELEASE FROM CHAIRS OF

DEMOCRATIC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES

IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY

Regarding the Congressional Budget Compromise

All Americans are winners as President Obama and Democratic congressional leaders beat back an attempt by Republicans and Tea Bagger extremists to hold our government hostage to their radical agenda while subjecting us all to economic jeopardy.  The threat of a governmental shutdown, which would have impacted vital services to all sectors of society - schools, business, even our military - was never about money.  President Obama and Democratic leaders had agreed with proposed savings numbers early on in the process.  This threat to social stability was simply about an uncompromising effort to co-opt the budget process to advance these dangerous goals.  We all should be grateful that the President and Congressional Democrats prevailed and that these efforts to subvert essential rights were defeated.
